GARLIC (thawm) (Allium sativum - Lakshmana) is used for STRENGTH, SPEED and ENDURANCE, and is also used as a DISINFECTANT, and to dispel GAS; treat high BLOOD PRESSURE; promotes MENSES, and expels afterbirth. GARLIC is used in curing and preventing CANCER, HIGH CHOLESTEROL and RESPIRATORY problems; it is excellent for DISSOLVING PHLEGM. BLADDER, EARACHES, INSECT BITES, HEADACHES, KIDNEY, SKIN, SNAKE BITE, TOOTHACHE, WORMS and PLAGUE problems are remedied with GARLIC compounds. GARLIC is good (medicinally) for combating all diseases and infections, and has an immune enhancing effect; GARLIC is also recommended in the treatment of arteriosclerosis, asthma, arthritis, circulatory problems, colds, flu, digestive problems, heart disorders, insomnia, liver disease and sinusitis. GARLIC is also used in formulas that relieve systemic yeast infections along with their resulting irregularities (diarrhea or constipation), bloating, low energy levels, vaginitis and menstrual difficulties. Such formulations are also used for thrush or mouth fungal infections. Also aids certain types of eczema. (Also see: COPPER, HABBATUL BARAKAH, IODINE, IRON and/or SAFFRON). GARLIC possesses magical powers, and is used to make charms and antidotes which counteract the poisons of hemlock and henbane. GARLIC is also said to possess magical powers against evil; particularly useful in warding off vampires, and is used to make CHARMS. Eating raw GARLIC CLOVES causes the FUN QUOTIENT of a person suffering from MELANCHOLIA to raise, and one is said to become more bold after such snacking or the drinking of crushed garlic-wine vinegar. The eating of raw thawm and then visiting al-masjid is haram, so it is written. GARLIC BULB is commonly used in the preparation of meals, to enhance or accent food flavors; is an essential ingredient in cold-relieving (preferably Halal or Kosher) chicken-based soup, and GARLIC may be used as a SALT SUBSTITUTE. One bowl of spicy chicken soup, or at least one garlicky meal every day is recommended to beat back bugs, particularly during cold and flu season. GARLIC is an expectorant. Putting a GARLIC CLOVE inside the shoe is recommended for the prevention and cure of bronchitis; the chemicals in GARLIC are absorbed through the skin. The planting of GARLIC should take place on the shortest day of the year, and harvested on the longest day; then the largest cloves should be planted on the longest day, and so on. The Holy Qur^(1)an speaks of a pure Nectar drink fresh from a stream, flavored with zanjabil. GINGER ROOTS are used in the preparation of a soft drink to aid digestion. When freshly grated or powdered GINGER is combined with powdered PEPPERMINT leaves and powdered CHAMOMILE flowers, along with HONEY and/or LEMON, an indigestion-soothing tea is the result. GINGER may also be used as a SALT SUBSTITUTE. GINGER is a secondary ingredient in formulas that include SIBERIAN GINSENG, DAMIANA LEAVES, SARSAPARILLA, GOTU KOLA, LICORICE ROOT, SAW PALMETTO BERRIES and/or FO-TI. GINGER TEA restores appetite. GINSENG COMPLEX (See: CHINESE, KOREAN, SIBERIAN) GINSENG ROOT Very helpful in depression from major neurological or autoimmune disease. A great extract to help prepare for stressful situations; before exams or major physical effort. GINSENG, for sexual dysfunction, increases hormonal secretion. GINSENG^(1)s estrogenic effect is strong enough to aid in vaginal changes and post menopausal symptoms (in place of hormone replacement therapy). GINSENG TEA provides the most excellent treatment for emotional and physical exhaustion, or as a tonic after a long illness. (DR.C) - QUINARY GOLDEN BELL FRUIT (DR.C) GOLDEN ROOT (See: GOLDEN SEAL). GOLDEN SEAL (Hydrastis canadensis) LEAF and ROOT are used to stimulate the APPETITE, increase bile secretions, treat ANXIETY, the LIVER, MORNING SICKNESS, RASHES, STRESS, UTERINE BLEEDING and CONTRADICTIONS; it soothes the STOMACH, cures CANKER SORES, relieves POISON IVY, RINGWORM, WATERING EYES and WOUNDS, and is used as a natural ANTIBIOTIC, an ANTISEPTIC, an ASTRINGENT, a DIURETIC, a DISINFECTANT, an EYEWASH, a LAXATIVE, a SEDATIVE and a MUSCLE RELAXANT. Goldenseal is also used to prevent PITTING of the skin in SMALLPOX. It is effective in regulating BLOOD CIRCULATION and improving MUSCLE TONE. Also controls ECZEMA. GOLDEN SEAL RHIZOME and ROOTS have some antibacterial properties; when used with basil leaves and other herbs, are used in the treatment of acne and skin sores ulcers and scratches. GOLDEN SEAL is also useful in mouth and gum sores, fever blisters, sores from dentures and herpes sores. It helps prevent further deterioration in periodontal disease and receding gums. GRAPEFRUIT JUICE carries a high POTASSIUM content. GRAPES are a good source of VITAMINS A and C to ward off colds, flu and other immunity problems. Also GRAPES are high in POTASSIUM and low in SODIUM, hence beneficial in high blood pressure control and lowering the risk of stroke.
