Jordan-Imam KhomeiniJordanian ex-minister extols Imam Khomeini's initiative on Qods DayAmman, Dec 20, IRNA -- A former Jordanian minister lauded here Tuesday the founder of the Islamic Republic in Iran, Imam Khomeini, for his designation of the World Qods Day on the last friday of the fasting month of Ramadhan. He said that the event had revived hopes in the hearts of the world Muslims, especially the Palestinians. "The stance Iran has adopted since the 1979-Islamic Revolution proves that the Palestinians are not alone and that the holy al-Qods will be restored to its true nation," Raif Najm, an ex-minister for social affairs told IRNA. The last Friday of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadhan is observed as the World Qods Day, this year on Dec 22. Iranians and Muslims worldwide hold annual demonstrations in denunciation of Israeli atrocities against Palestinian civilians and the Zionist usurpation of the holy al-Qods (Jerusalem). Najm added that Iran's firm stance on the holy al-Qods would deny the negotiators of the Palestinian issue any concessions. "Beit-ul Moqaddas (Jerusalem) will be liberated by jihad (holy war) and not by negotiations." Iran, which also does not recognize the Jewish state said Tuesday that renewed peace talks with Israel were aimed at extinguishing the Palestinian intifadha (uprising). "As the Zionist regime's policy of terror, repression and murder against the defenseless Palestinian people continues, such talks are merely an effort to divert the aims of the intifadha," Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hamid-Reza Assefi said here Tuesday. Israeli and Palestinian negotiators were to hold separate talks starting Tuesday with the outgoing US administration of President Bill Clinton, and with the aim of striking a peace deal before he leaves office next month. On Tuesday, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in a message to Muslim nations ahead of World Qods Day, stressed that the only option open to the Palestinians is jihad. "Today, it is well understood that the only way to disentangle from the claws of the (Israeli) criminals and their supporters is jihad ... Muslims have accepted this," he said. On Friday, Ayatollah Khamenei called for the destruction of srael, referring to it in the familiar description of a "cancerous tumor" in the Middle East. There is no doubt that peace is genuine and innate in Islam, but peace has to be built on the given and received rights of their owners. There is no peace for any occupier, irrespective of his identity. In the case of our friends in the Middle East whose land the Zionist occupier wants the true owners of this same land removed from, and where new settlers are assumed to be the new owners, to fight this occupier until all the land is clear from his dirtiness is a clear response of the Absolute variety. Allah promised in the Holy Qur'an that all who fight for their given rights Allah will support their struggle... It should also be noted that jihad, greater or
 lesser, fails to translate well into English... From a recent Moqawama note it seems to be mutually understood that any effort on our part in the west is valued where facing the Zionist claims against Islam and Islamic Resistance is concerned, and especially in our Western societies where language really is an obstacle, we must also look upon the peace process as a learning process, for all concerned. It is hoped that the Moqawama Page will serve as a continuous source of authentic information, and we can work to overcome the obstacles of language and cultural differences - to move us forward in this process of attaining an Authentic peace - a difficult task; even to view the photo of the child whose head was blown away. One could ask, "How could it happen?" At Isreali hands greased with western capital, is a horrific answer. What the comfortable western decision makers don't understand, and the Zionists either for that matter don't understand that the innocents who carry bombs and are killed in the process are not out to thwart peace but become martyrs to be sure an authentic peace is wrought. The innocents, the women children and old men, even Isrealis who die in the marketplace are likely no different in the eyes of the All Knowing than any other esteemed martyr. Paraphrasing Al-Qur'an, it could be said, "Don't say they are dead; merely, they have gone to be with their Lord". In the United States, we just saw the Republicans and the Democrats agree to a National Budget that both parties could agree with. That agreement between the parties however sold out the middle class in favor of the very, very wealthy. That is like a peace process that ultimately sells out those who are affected by the process but who don't have a say in it, and whose actual situation is of no consideration to the decision makers. The great middle class in the US had nothing to say about the favor that was given to the comfortable. The wealthy were well represented. Their representatives found agreement with their counterpart in the opposite camp who did not fairly and honestly represent their own constituients. There is now an agreement, such as it is. The President will sign it into law. It will be the law of the land; the agreement between the parties will be the law of the land but that doesn't make it right or fair. A lame and unauthentic peace process in the Mideast that brings about the kind results as we just saw in the US that favors the wealthy over the average taxpayer, and have it become an agreement and an enforceable law would be the same kind of sham and shame as a peace process in the middle east that sells out the unrepresented Palestinians would be. How can there be peace without fairness, in Palestine, or South Lebanon or anywhere else? Conscience won't allow a similarly understood compromise or concensus where Peace and Rights are concerned, to happen. Them is fightin' words! What else can greater or lesser jihad be? Innocents fighting and dying for what is right is right! It hurts so deeply, and we miss our loved ones when they are no longer with us even when every drop of spilled blood in the course of the struggle brings us all, even the comfortable closer to actualized peace. Does the end justify the means? Who knows? But don't say they are dead; merely, they have gone to be with their Lord, as the struggle continues till victory; till the kind of peace as referred to above is attained. As the west experienced during WWII, that same real peace was required to fight for and its attainment in any context is a promise. With the likes of our non-judgemental support and whatever else we can do, the Mojahedeen's resistance will flourish and progress, even inch by bloody inch; may Allah bless the Mojahedeen and support their will and ours in fighting the Zionist enemy and guide us all to his right path. Today, you are coming to a region suffered a tragedy for a long time. Tragedy of peoples afflicted by confiscating their right of self-determination. The tragedy reached a peak when a nation was, completely, displaced in pretense of establishing a safe homeland for another people regardless of historical and geographical facts. Furthermore, that tragedy and its aftermath are going to be settled as a fact has its international legality through making pressures on persecuted peoples to waive, completely, certain territorial rights for dispersed lands and feeble entity. This international way in treating Palestine issue turned into threatening Al-Quds itself. This city viewed by Moslems, as well as by Christians, with sanctity, for it is Moslems' kiblah (direction to which Moslems turn in prayer) and place of Prophet Mohammad's ascension to the seven heavens. So, it is a symbol of terminating the faith journey and gate to supreme world. It is intended to be eternal capital for aggressive and racial entity. This sacred city in christian conscience is on the way of evacuating it from Arab presence, both Islamic and Christian. This presence is in constant decrease because of the adopted political way in undermining it. The silence will not lead but to strengthening the Israeli domination on Al-Quds and to more indifference from many in the world. So, it is very well to be pointed out that to put an end to silence and indifference is to take a clear ecclesiastic decision calls for liberating Al-Quds from Zionist occupiers.
